We recently (April 2020) received this letter from Mr. Mapunda the founder of Msmaria Center for Street Children in regards to COVID-19. ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Dear friends am coming to you as a Social Worker, Countries are fighting for the COVID-19, I feel the pain of it,everybody is struggling and I understand it,but I come to you as a social worker and director of Msamaria home, because of the urgent needs we are having. In the country CORONAVIRUS turn everything upside down everybody is scared due to it. I and my team, we are committed to work with them in all the grounds life or death and we make sure all children will be in safe hands all time of this world crisis. Therefore, they are a lot at demand at home as no volunteers come and see the kids anymore.as you all know all schools are closed and all the children who were in boarding schools are back at home. Due to all the children that are home now, there is higher demand of necessities here at home. Life at the Orphanage is challenging, scared and unpredictable the impact is worse to our beautiful, poor and innocent vulnerable children who have been trapped in the midst killer disease have double pain, thinking for their life and lack of essential’s at home. As Msamaria management we have never passed such kind of life schools areclosed.We are running out of food and all essentials, as we all know we need to take precautions as indicated by doctors on wearing masks, washing hands with running water and soaps, but for now we don’t have possibility to do so.This is very dangerous for this beautiful kids that we are taking care of, we are asking all of our friends to come together and help us to solve this problem as soon as possible. We understand that with these pandemic things are difficult but with the little you can contribute we can solve this. Please tell a friend to tell a friend and share with different people, we need an immediate solution because we are in danger and we are starving. Once again we came back to you as know much you love us also feel acknowledging to appreciate all time you support us to meet the demand for children, our beautiful“Msamaria children are starving” the Orphanage is running in short of food and we don’t know when this will end, we need your help at least to boost our food budget for three months. Food Budget projected for three months Food per week 300 USD Food for three months 3600 USD Note:the budget based on bulk purchasing, food choose including nutritious porridge and vitamin C that recommended during this corona crises for body humility. Water and electricity utility are another area that we need you help hand to meet the current need for children, since we are in a new house with modern facilities that demand sufficient water and hand washing a new style for corona preventive measures.
